TL;DR
Visiting the Milan Duomo costs €10 for the cheapest sightseeing ticket — cathedral interior plus museum, adult full price — and up to €36 for the all-inclusive Duomo + Ambrosiana combo. The most popular option, cathedral + rooftop + museum, is €22 by stairs or €26 by lift. Entering the Duomo is free only for prayer and worship via a dedicated side or north entrance; any sightseeing visit requires a paid ticket. There is no senior discount — reduced prices, usually 50%, apply only to children and young people aged 6–18, and to students under 26 for the Culture Pass.
Since 1 April 2025 the online price equals the box-office price — service and pre-sale fees were abolished. Buy only from ticket.duomomilano.it or an authorised reseller such as GetYourGuide or Tiqets. Anything charging far above the €10–€36 band is a markup.

Who pays less — reduced, free, family & group
Who qualifies for reduced tickets
- Children and young people aged 6–18 — roughly 50% of the adult price. ID required.
- Students under 26, for the reduced Culture Pass only. A school or university badge is required.
- There is no senior discount. Over-65s pay the full adult price — the most common false assumption about Duomo pricing.
- The Culture Pass is the exception to the 50% rule: reduced is €13, not half of €15. See the discrepancy explained below.
Free admission — and "is the Duomo free?"
- Entering to pray or attend Mass is free, through reserved side and north doors.
- Free tourist admission applies to children under 6, visitors with disabilities plus one companion, licensed guides on duty, and certain accredited categories. A free ticket is still issued.
- So — is the Duomo free? For worship, yes. For sightseeing, no.
- The Italian state's "first Sunday" free-museum programme does not apply to the Duomo, which is privately run by the Veneranda Fabbrica rather than by the state.
Family tickets
Available for some ticket types, covering two adults plus one or two children under 18:
| Ticket | 2 adults + 1 child | 2 adults + 2 children |
|---|---|---|
| Duomo + Museum | €25 | €30 |
| Rooftops by stairs | €35 | €42 |
| Rooftops by lift | €40 | €48 |
| Combo Stairs | €50 | €60 |
| Combo Lift | €62.50 | €75 |
No family tickets are offered for the Culture Pass or for any Fast-Track product.
Group and school rates
- Third-party groups book through the call centre on +39 02 89919751. A radio or whisper system is mandatory for groups of 5 or more.
- Group pre-sale fees (for visits from 1 May): €7.00 up to 10 people; €20.00 over 10, or €15.00 for affiliates.
- School and religious groups receive the reduced ticket, with a pre-sale fee of €5.00 up to 10 people or €15.00 over 10.
Other experiences you might enjoy
A Duomo ticket is rarely the whole budget. Most visitors pair it with Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper at Santa Maria delle Grazie — a separate, stricter booking system with its own price ladder — and then fill the day around Sforza Castle, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana or the Teatro alla Scala. Beyond the monuments, Brera and Navigli food tours, Milan walking tours, hop-on hop-off buses and day trips out to Lake Como all price up from Piazza del Duomo. Our guide to Milan's guided, walking and self-guided tours compares the formats; the widget below shows live availability and current prices for these and other Milan experiences.
Guided tours, audio guides & app costs
Guided tour prices
- The official Veneranda Fabbrica guided tour — around 90 minutes, fast-track included: €35.00 full / €23.00 reduced.
- Third-party guided tours sit in a wide band: small-group Duomo interior from about €36; rooftop about €40 (Duomo Cathedral and Rooftop Terrace Guided Tour, from $69, 4.7 · 987 reviews); cathedral + rooftop about €60; a private official guide around €92; a Duomo + Last Supper combo from about €99.
Those bands map onto real, bookable products. These three cover the middle and upper end — the official fast-track tour, a cathedral-and-rooftop guided walk, and the Duomo + Last Supper combination that most visitors end up wanting:
Cathedral + terraces, fast-track
Fast-Track Milan Cathedral and Terraces Guided Tour
Run by the Veneranda Fabbrica itself — the closest thing on sale to the official €35 guided tour, with the priority security lane bundled in.
Cathedral + terraces, small group
Milan: Cathedral and Terraces Guided Tour with Tickets
The ~€60 cathedral-plus-rooftop band, with tickets included so there is nothing left to buy at the door. A smaller review base than the official tour — worth reading recent feedback before booking.
Walking tour with Last Supper ticket
Milan: Guided Walking Tour & Last Supper Visit with Ticket
The ~€99-and-up combo band. Its real value is the Last Supper ticket, which routinely sells out months ahead on the official portal.
A private official guide at around €92 is the one band with no strong equivalent we can recommend — GetYourGuide's private Duomo tours are either newly listed or carry too few reviews to judge. For a private guide, book through the Veneranda Fabbrica's call centre.
Audio guide, video guide and app costs
- The official DUOMOMILANO app costs €3.49 — a 1 hour 40 minute tour across 85 audio points, and it works offline.
- Official video guides — rentable devices — have been available in 12 languages since 1 April 2025.
- A free DUOMO FOR KIDS video guide covers ages 6–12.
The €30 all-areas GetYourGuide ticket above bundles a multilingual audio guide, which makes the €3.49 app redundant if you book that product. Our tours guide compares the self-guided options in detail.
Which ticket is actually worth buying
- Best value: Combo Stairs (€22). Buying the rooftop (€16) and Duomo + Museum (€10) separately comes to €26 — the combo saves money, adds flexibility, and is valid two days.
- Combo Lift (€26) saves about €2 against the €28 à la carte equivalent, while sparing you the climb.
- Budget or short on time: Duomo + Museum (€10), or the Wednesday Duomo-only ticket (€8).
- History lovers who can skip the roof: the Culture Pass (€15) adds the archaeological area and the Crypt of Saint Charles.
- Is Fast-Track worth it? At €28 or €32 it is €6–€10 more, and generally earns that back only on busy spring and summer weekends. Standard combos also carry wider rooftop time-slot availability, so on a quiet weekday the premium buys very little.
If crowds rather than money are the constraint, the cheaper route is timing, not Fast-Track: book a standard combo for the first 09:00 slot. Our opening hours and best-time guide sets out which days and seasons that actually works on.
The Culture Pass reduced-price discrepancy
If you have seen the reduced Culture Pass quoted at €7.50 — including, until this update, elsewhere on this site — here is why that figure is wrong for almost everybody.
The official access-updates page lists the Culture Pass at €15.00 full and €13.00 reduced. The Museum's separate "Concessions and Benefits" page shows a Culture Pass at €7.50 — but that is a special partner concession, available to Diocesan Museum ticket holders and Summer School students, not the general reduced price. A third partner rate of €13.50 applies to Terre Borromeo ticket holders.
The correct standard reduced price for children aged 6–18 and students under 26 is €13.00. Budget for that, and treat €7.50 as a concession you have to qualify for rather than a price you can expect at the desk.
This is also the one place where the Culture Pass breaks the Duomo's usual 50%-off pattern — €13 is a €2 discount on €15, not half of it. It is the reason the pass is poor value for a family of children and much better value for an adult student.
What changed in 2024 and 2025
| Effective | What changed |
|---|---|
| 1 March 2024 | Combo €25 by lift / €20 by stairs; Culture Pass €12 full, €6 reduced; Duomo + Ambrosiana €34 / €22. |
| 1 April 2025 | Prices raised and simplified — Combo Lift €26, Combo Stairs €22, Culture Pass €15, Duomo + Ambrosiana €36, rooftop by lift €18, Fast-Track €28 and €32. Service and pre-sale fees abolished, and most tickets moved to two-day validity. |
The April 2025 change is the one that still matters when you book. It is why there is no longer any price advantage to queueing at the ticket desk, and why a reseller quoting a "booking fee" on top of a Duomo ticket is charging you for something the Veneranda Fabbrica abolished.
Where to buy — and the reseller trap
- Official channels: ticket.duomomilano.it; on-site at Ticket Office 1 (Sala delle Colonne, Piazza del Duomo 14/a, 09:00–18:00), Ticket Office 2 (Duomo Museum, Piazza del Duomo 12, 10:00–18:00), and the DuomoInfopoint.
- Authorised resellers: GetYourGuide and Tiqets, at the same prices.
- Prices are identical online and on-site since April 2025.
The Veneranda Fabbrica's own warning
It warns of unaffiliated websites selling tickets "without being able to guarantee either the validity of the admission titles or the accuracy and fairness of the prices applied."
€58 for a €17 ticket
One TripAdvisor reviewer paid €58 to "Ticket Compass" for the same ticket a colleague bought at the gate for €17 — and the €58 ticket was initially rejected at the door.
The €10–€36 sanity check
Every official product sits inside that band. A "Duomo ticket" priced far above it is a markup, not a premium product.
Booking fees no longer exist
Service and pre-sale fees were abolished on 1 April 2025. Anyone still charging one is not passing on an official cost.
Milan: Cathedral & Duomo's Terraces Entrance Ticket
The Veneranda Fabbrica's own all-areas product on GetYourGuide — cathedral, rooftop terraces and Duomo Museum · multilingual audio guide · 4.6 ★ from 71,000+ reviews · valid 2 days.

What we'd actually do
- Default — book Combo Stairs (€22) online at ticket.duomomilano.it. Upgrade to Combo Lift (€26) only if the stairs are a problem.
- Budget or short on time: Duomo + Museum (€10), or visit on a Wednesday for €8.
- Families: use the family-ticket options — they beat buying four individual tickets on every product that offers them.
- Only pay for Fast-Track (€28–€32) on a peak-season weekend or a midday slot.
- Never buy from an unfamiliar "official-looking" website. If a Duomo ticket costs far more than €10–€36, it is a reseller markup.
- If you only want to pray, use the free worship entrance — you do not need a ticket at all.
- Thresholds worth deciding in advance: if you value a guide's narration, take the official €35 guided tour; if you have two Milan days and love art, the Culture Pass (€15) or Duomo + Ambrosiana (€36); if the terraces are sold out, a guided rooftop tour is the reliable fallback.
Before you book — the fine print
- Prices reflect the 1 April 2025 tariff. Confirm on ticket.duomomilano.it before booking.
- Some resellers still advertise "72-hour" validity for tickets now officially listed as two-day.
- Third-party guided-tour and audio-tour prices fluctuate — the bands above are indicative, not fixed.
- The Duomo Museum is closed Wednesdays; the Crypt of Saint Charles is closed Sundays and religious festivals.
- "Reduced" age brackets are stated as 6–18 officially. Carry ID, and check the specific product at checkout — the Culture Pass extends its reduced rate to students under 26, and no other product does.
Frequently asked questions
How much are Milan Duomo tickets in 2026?
The cheapest sightseeing ticket is €10 for the cathedral interior plus the Duomo Museum at adult full price, dropping to €8 on Wednesdays when the museum is closed. The most popular option — cathedral, rooftop terraces and museum together — is €22 by stairs or €26 by lift. The top of the range is the €36 Duomo + Ambrosiana combo.
Is the Milan Duomo free to enter?
For worship, yes; for sightseeing, no. Entering to pray or attend Mass is free through reserved side and north doors. Any tourist visit requires a paid ticket. Free tourist admission is limited to children under 6, visitors with disabilities plus one companion, licensed guides on duty and certain accredited categories — and a free ticket is still issued. Italy's state "first Sunday" free-museum programme does not apply, because the Duomo is run privately by the Veneranda Fabbrica.
Is there a senior discount for the Milan Duomo?
No. There is no senior or over-65 discount at the Milan Duomo — over-65s pay the full adult price. Reduced tickets, generally around 50% off, apply to children and young people aged 6–18 with ID, and the reduced Culture Pass extends to students under 26 with a school or university badge.
Which Milan Duomo ticket is the best value?
Combo Stairs at €22. Buying the rooftop terraces (€16) and the Duomo + Museum ticket (€10) separately comes to €26, so the combo saves money and adds flexibility, and it is valid for two days. Combo Lift at €26 saves about €2 against the €28 à la carte equivalent while sparing you the climb.
Is Fast-Track worth it at the Milan Duomo?
Usually only on a peak-season weekend or a midday slot. Fast-Track costs €28–€32 against €22–€26 for the standard combos, a premium of €6–€10. Standard combos also have wider rooftop time-slot availability, so on a quiet weekday the extra money buys very little.
Are Milan Duomo tickets cheaper online or at the ticket office?
They are exactly the same. Since 1 April 2025 the Veneranda Fabbrica has abolished service and pre-sale fees, so the online price on ticket.duomomilano.it equals the box-office price. Buying online saves queueing, not money.
Does the Milan Duomo have family tickets?
Yes, for some ticket types, covering two adults plus one or two children under 18. Duomo + Museum is €25 or €30; Rooftops by stairs €35 or €42; by lift €40 or €48; Combo Stairs €50 or €60; Combo Lift €62.50 or €75. There are no family tickets for the Culture Pass or the Fast-Track products.
Why do some sites list the reduced Culture Pass at €7.50?
Because €7.50 is a special partner concession, not the general reduced price. The official access-updates page lists the Culture Pass at €15 full and €13 reduced. The €7.50 figure on the Museum's concessions page applies to Diocesan Museum ticket holders and Summer School students, and a third partner rate of €13.50 applies to Terre Borromeo ticket holders. For children aged 6–18 and students under 26, the correct reduced price is €13.
How much is the Milan Duomo audio guide?
The official DUOMOMILANO app costs €3.49 and covers a 1 hour 40 minute tour across 85 audio points, and works offline. Official rentable video guides have been available in 12 languages since 1 April 2025, and there is a free DUOMO FOR KIDS video guide for ages 6–12.
How do I avoid overpaying for Milan Duomo tickets?
Buy only from ticket.duomomilano.it, the on-site ticket offices, or a named authorised reseller such as GetYourGuide or Tiqets. The Veneranda Fabbrica warns that unaffiliated websites sell tickets without being able to guarantee either their validity or the fairness of the price. One TripAdvisor reviewer paid €58 to a site called "Ticket Compass" for a ticket a colleague bought at the gate for €17, and the €58 ticket was initially rejected. If a Duomo ticket costs far more than the €10–€36 official band, it is a markup.
